  1. 1 Dative

    seit drei Jahre → seit drei Jahren

    "seit" always takes the dative. In the dative plural the noun adds -n.

  2. 2 Two-way preposition

    in die Wohnung → in der Wohnung

    "wohnen in" answers "where?", so the preposition takes the dative.

  3. 3 Word order

    Gestern die Heizung ist → Gestern ist die Heizung

    In a main clause the verb comes second. After "Gestern" the verb moves before the subject.

  4. 4 Spelling

    kaputt gegangen → kaputtgegangen

    "kaputtgehen" is one word, so its participle is written as one word too.
