Tap to flip

Real words, the right article, in your ear.

Every KasusKnacker card pairs a German word with its article, a spoken pronunciation, an example sentence, and a quick grammar note. You don't just memorise translations — you learn the gender and hear how the word sounds, which is exactly what trips learners up later.

More than two-sided cards

Audio, articles, and adaptive review built into every deck.

Themed decks by level

Vocabulary grouped into topics like food, body, travel, and work — and graded A1 to C1, so every deck matches where you are.

Three study modes

Practise classic cards, guess the article, or flip to the reversed direction and recall the German word from its meaning.

Audio on every card

Tap to hear each word pronounced in natural German, so you learn how it sounds, not just how it's spelled.

Review until it sticks

Cards you don't know come back later in the session and keep coming back until you've mastered the whole deck.

Examples & grammar notes

Each card includes an example sentence and a short note, so you see the word in context and remember the tricky bits.

Earn XP as you learn

Flashcards feed the same XP, streaks, and stats as the rest of KasusKnacker, so every deck counts toward your daily goal.

1

2

Choose a study mode

Start classic, hide the article to test der, die or das, or reverse the card to recall the German word.

3

Flip and listen

Reveal the answer, tap to hear the word, and check the example sentence and grammar note.

4

Know it or review

Mark each card known or not. The ones you miss come back until the whole deck is mastered.

German Flashcards FAQ

What are KasusKnacker flashcards?

They're themed decks of German vocabulary, grouped by level. Each card shows a word with its article, plays the pronunciation, and adds an example sentence and a short grammar note — so you learn the word, its gender, and how it sounds together.

How do the three study modes work?

Classic shows the German word with its article and you recall the meaning. Guess the article hides der, die or das so you practise the gender. Reversed flips the card: you see the meaning and recall the full German word.

Do the cards have audio?

Yes. Every card can be read aloud in German with built-in text-to-speech, so you can hear the correct pronunciation and replay it as often as you like.

How does the review work?

As you study, cards you mark “Don't know” go into a review queue and come back later in the same session. The deck repeats the words you haven't mastered until you've got them all.

Are the decks organized by level?

Yes. Decks are graded A1–A2, B1–B2, and C1–C2 and grouped by theme, so you can start with everyday words and work up to advanced vocabulary.

Is it free?

You can practise flashcards for free every day. A Premium subscription unlocks every themed deck, so you can learn as much vocabulary as you want.
